INVITATION to OASIS User Forum and 1st International Workshop "Technology for independent living: an OASIS beyond 55", 8th & 10th October 2008, Brussels

Dear Madam/Sir,

For the growing elderly population in our society, it has become increasingly important to maintain their autonomy and mobility as this is associated to a better quality of life.

OASIS IP aims to develop an open and innovative reference architecture, based upon ontologies and semantic services, that will allow plug and play and cost effective interconnection of existing and newly developed services in all domains required for the independent and autonomous living of older people and their enhanced Quality of Life.

On behalf of the OASIS Consortium, we kindly invite you to participate in its first user Forum and international Workshop that will take place respectively on 8 and 10 October 2008.

-----------------------------------------------
OASIS USER FORUM
From a technological point of view OASIS promises to provide relevant innovations over the state-of-the art in areas such as Open Reference Architecture and Ontologies, Intelligent Agents and AMI Framework, Wearable sensors for elderly health and activity monitoring, In-home and Domotic Sensors, Independent Living Applications and Autonomous Mobility and Smart Workplaces Applications.
To reach it aims and objectives the project is organising a User Forum on 8 October 2008 in Brussels encouraging multi-stakeholder participation and fostering discussions between industry, cities and end users to ensure the development of technologies and services that meet the needs of older people.
The consortium partners are pleased to invite you to join this forum. Your expertise and collaboration will be vital to the success of the project and for the well being of older people.
The OASIS User Forum takes place at the Polis offices, Rue du Trône, 98, B - 1050, Brussels Belgium.

OASIS 1st INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
The workshop will present the preliminary findings of the project related to the Use Cases selection and choice of the Ontological framework, thus stimulating discussions on these issues. Its outcome will be taken into account by the Consortium during the further course of the project.
Key stakeholders from relevant areas are expected to participate (such as end users’ representatives and organisations, EC representatives, technologies developers, municipalities, etc.). This workshop therefore is an excellent chance to meet experts from relevant fields.
The International workshop takes place at the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union, Rue Wiertz 77, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
-----------------------------------------------

Participation to the OASIS user forum and workshop is free of charge. However, due to space limitation, participation will be on a first-come first-served basis. We would appreciate it if you could return the registration forms for both events before Friday 3.10.2008. You can download the agendas and registration forms for both events via www.marie-curie-bg.org/downloads/OASIS_User_Forum_Workshop_Conference_Oct_2008.zip.
