We invite you to submit work to the PARTICIPATORY DESIGN paper session at the Human-Computer Interaction International conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, 19-24 July 2020 (http://2020.hci.international/). This session is part of the conference's thematic area Design, User Experience and Usability (DUXU)

SESSION WEBSITE: https://participatorydesignmethods.wordpress.com

Participatory design is an approach to product design that involves stakeholders, end-users and the design & production team as integral parts of the design process. The aim is to help ensure that the end-product fully meets the needs of users and will be accepted and adopted by those users.

If you work in this field, we invite you to share your research. We are particularly interested in approaches that involve users or audiences in a highly inclusive and empowered way, as part of the design team and as experts of their own lived experiences.

We are looking for examples, best practice and lived experiences from a broad variety of fields. Topics include but are not limited to:

- novel participatory design methods in a connected world
- challenges encountered during participatory design and how they can be overcome
- methods to elicit user needs, preferences and creativity
- scalability and inclusion in participatory design
- crowd-sourced participatory design
- maximising team coherence and collaboration
- the use of prototypes and descriptive artefacts in the design process
- shifting power and privilege from the design team to stakeholders
- enabling participation of disadvantaged, disparate or disabled user groups
- designing for sensory needs
- training and educating the next generation of participatory designers

The deadline for submission is 30 November 2019. Please visit the session website at https://participatorydesignmethods.wordpress.com<https://participatorydesignmethods.wordpress.com/> for submission details and for what we accept. Accepted papers will be published by Springer in a multi-volume set of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

Hoping to see you in Copenhagen!
