Communication and Information Sciences Ph.D. Program Accepting
Applicants

Communication and information technologies are transforming
society, impacting on a cross section of human activity far greater
than any innovation since the printing press. Leaders in this nexus
of technology and society require interdisciplinary expertise,
transcending the individual disciplines from which the underlying
technologies and their applications arose. The Communication and
Information Sciences (CIS) PhD program at the University of Hawai'i
was established to meet this need. This program is a collaborative
effort between the School of Communication, Department of
Information and Computer Sciences, Department of Information
Technology Management, and the Library and Information Science
Program. This partnership allows CIS PhD students to draw on the
broad expertise held by the partnering faculty members in
developing integrative advances in the communication and
information sciences.

Applications for admission are accepted for the fall semesters
only. Admission requires
* A master's degree in one of these fields or a closely
  related field
* Knowledge of computer programming and statistics
* Submission of GRE or GMAT scores
* Three letters of recommendation
* Proficiency in English
Deadlines are January 15th for non-residents of the U.S. and March
1 for US residents.
