CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: Human Factors Students and Faculty

The University of Waterloo Computer-Human Interaction (WatCHI) group
in collaboration with the
Human Factors Interest Group (HFIG, U Toronto) presents:

The 2nd annual Interuniversity Workshop on Human Factors Engineering

DATE: Saturday, November 3, 2001
LOCATION: University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

The purpose of this workshop is to bring students and researchers
together from the local area to share research progress and ideas in
human factors engineering. We intend this to be a very positive
event that will be fun and constructive for everyone.

The main event will occur on a Saturday Nov 3 with approx.
15 minutes presentations followed by questions/comments/suggestions
from the audience. The workshop is intended to be quite informal
and presenters may discuss previous research, or ideas/work in
progress related to human factors engineering.

Tentative schedule:

Saturday, Nov 3:
- 8:30 to 9:30: Breakfast
- 9:30 to 10:30: Guest speaker (to be determined)
- 10:45 to 12:00: Presentations
- 12:00 to 13:15: Lunch
- 13:15 to 15:45: More presentations
- 16:00 to 17:00: Brainstorming/breakout session
- 18:00 to 23:00: Dinner and party afterwards

Since the workshop is only one day, accommodations should not be too much of
a problem. However, if you are looking for staying over either Friday and/or
Saturday night, we will have some informal activities for Friday night and
Sunday morning. If you are planning to stay over, we can look for cheap
accommodations through the University of Waterloo for the weekend and let
you know more details.

NEW THIS YEAR: We are looking to put together a summary of all the
presentations. This will consist of a 150 to 250 words abstract of your
presentation, which will be given to the participants during the workshop.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
--------------------

OCTOBER 19th: Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you need
accommodation
OCTOBER 24th: Last day to send your abstract to workshop co-ordinators
OCTOBER 26th: Final program will be e-mailed to participants
NOVEMBER 3rd: See you in Waterloo

Please note that you DO NOT have to present to attend the workshop. However,
if you are planning to attend, but not present, let us know by OCTOBER 19th,
and we will count you in.

Please pass this message to those you know who may be interested.

If you have any questions, please contact the workshop co-ordinators:
