IS-EUD 2015: 5th Symposium on End User Development: My world, my device, my
program
Madrid, 26-29 May 2015
************************************************************************************************

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE INDUSTRIAL TRACK
http://dei.inf.uc3m.es/iseud2015/conference/industrial-track/

Important dates
* Proposal: February 28, 2015
* Notification: March 9, 2015

************************************************************************************************

In an increasingly connected world, we use computer technology in more and
more of our work practices and everyday routines. End users face the
challenge of adapting and combining these devices and technologies for
their potentially various and differing purposes, and engage in creative,
often collaborative, activities to make the infrastructures fit their
practice.
End-user development has established itself as a research discipline that
connects the ergonomics of programming with the users’ needs and abilities
to shape the technological infrastructures they live in. The research does
not aim at making everybody a programmer, but at allowing everybody to be
in control of the technologies they live and work with at a degree of
complexity of their choice. This includes improving the concepts and
interfaces for programming and configuration as well as supporting end
users in their activities to share, delegate and collaborate.
The IS-EUD 2015 in Madrid welcomes researchers and practitioners interested
in exploring innovative, creative, simpler and more empowered ways of
ideating, infrastructuring, configuring, adapting and programming our
modern IT infrastructures at home and at work. We look at devices like
smartphones, dishwashers, smart TVs, robots, cars, wearable IT, houses and
laptops, and we look at practices and milieus like engineering, shopfloor,
hackspaces, fab labs, app programming, e-health, e-mobility, e-democracy
and energy efficient IT, and aim at improving tools, interfaces, processes
and methods that support user-driven innovation.
The conference welcomes contributions that
* describe new, simple and efficient interfaces for adaptation and
programming,
* describe new approaches for more flexible software and device
architectures,
* describe new processes and methods to approach complex scenarios of
infrastructuring,
* present studies and design implications on challenges and practices of
end user development and user creativity.

The 5th Symposium on End User Development aims at offering a common space
where industrial researchers and practitioners can share their
contributions. The “Industrial Track” will host innovative tools and
software as practical applications of the EUD approach to real users. These
products will support end-users working on a set of tasks, trying to
improve their performance. In particular, each artifact will be developed
taking into account usability metrics as efficiency, effectiveness and
usefulness, as well as the addressed functionalities. Published submissions
will focus on the description of the proposed solutions and their practical
implication for involved end-users.

Accepted papers will be presented in the conference main track or as
posters depending on the quality of the paper.

************************************************************************************************
Submission of papers

Authors may submit and update their contribution (up to 4 pages) through
the EasyChair system (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iseud2015)
until the deadline (February 28, 2015).

Each paper of the industrial track must include at least one author from an
industrial organization.

All submissions will be reviewed by the Industrial Liason Committee.
Accepted papers will appear in the proceedings of IS-EUD 2015, published by
Springer as Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS). Consequently, papers
must be carefully formatted according to the Springer LNCS format (
http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0).

Accepted papers will be published directly (there will not be time to
modify it after their acceptance), so if a paper does not follow the
required format it will be automatically rejected without review.

High quality workshops, aligned to the themes of the conference, provide an
informal setting where participants have the opportunity to discuss
specific topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas.
This year this very interesting workshop will be held on May 26th.

CoPDA 2015 – Coping with Information, Participation, and Collaboration
Overload - 3rd International Workshop on Cultures of Participation in the
Digital Age-

Co-creation is grounded on new forms of constructive interaction among all
relevant stakeholders in society: academia, government at all levels,
business, the third sector, and citizens. All these actors collaborate in
creative processes of delivering innovation based on principles of
participation, empowerment and mutual responsibility. Through engaging
citizens to redesign and remake their environment and communities can lead
to improved outcomes such as job creation, social cohesion and inclusion,
quality of life, more efficient and effective public administrations,
improved market functioning, strengthened democracy through open
government, innovation capacity and cross-fertilization of all sectors.
