MCMC2002: Mobile Computing in Medical Context Workshop
<http://www.cmcsm.ac.uk/mcmc2002>

September 10th 2002, Senate Rooms, Glasgow University, Scotland UK

MCMC is a one day workshop bringing together informatics academics, health
service professionals and commercial developers interested in mobile
information systems applied to healthcare delivery.

Healthcare staff are mobile and have high demand for easy, timely and
context sensitive access to (and input of) increasing quantities of data.
Speeding the flow of information to and from the point of care delivery
without increasing load on staff must surely be a key element of improving
service delivery and working conditions. Wireless technology and mobile
computing, including contextually aware systems, are the subject of active
research and development in the computing science community and this
workshop is intended to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue relating to
current activity and priority setting in research and development.

Short papers are invited providing perspectives on the mobility and
contextual information needs of healthcare staff. Descriptions of projects
relating for example to the application of mobile information systems to
healthcare, or to context sensitive information systems in the healthcare
context having application to mobility are particularly welcome.
Experiences with particular application to the Scottish healthcare sector
are encouraged. If you have some other contribution you feel is relevant to
the field please contact the organisers (see URL above noted for more
information).

Expressions of interest in the form of short abstracts are invited as soon
as possible. Final papers not exceeding four pages should be lodged by 30th
July. Programme schedule is still subject to confirmation of keynote
speakers and will be e-mailed or posted to interested parties (please
register online).

Registration for 1 day: £50 (students: £30)
Additional workshop registration: £25 (students: £15)
This price includes buffet lunch, tea and coffee and a copy of the proceedings.
MCMC is cohosted by the Centre for Mathematical and Computational Science
in Medicine (CMCSM) and the Department of Computing Science at the
University of Glasgow. It forms the second day of the Glasgow Context
Workshops meetings, the first of which is "Building Bridges:
Interdisciplinary Context-Sensitive Computing"

Attendees of MCMC will receive a 50 percent discount on the cost of the
second workshop if both are being attended. (See
<http://gcg.dcs.gla.ac.uk/workshop> for more information about BB-ICSC).
