Extended Deadline for Paper Submission: August 11, 2006!

                      CALL FOR PAPERS

               Second International Workshop on
       Model Driven Development of Advanced User Interfaces
                http://planetmde.org/mddaui2006

                         Organized at
                       MoDELS/UML 2006
                  Genova, Italy, October 1-6

The user interface of an application is often one of the core factors
determining its success. While model-based user interface development is an
important line of research in the human-computer-interaction (respectively
human-machine-interaction) community, model-driven application development
is an important area in the software engineering community. This workshop
aims at integrating the knowledge from both domains, leading to a
model-driven development of user interfaces. Thereby, the focus of the
workshop lies on advanced user interfaces corresponding to the current
state-of-the-art in human-computer interaction, like e.g. multimedia or
context-sensitive user interfaces or multi-modal interaction techniques.

Topics of Interest
==================
We solicit submissions which address one ore more of the following issues:
* Models required for modeling (specific aspects of) advanced or
non-standard user interfaces clearly stating their added value for the
targeted applications compared to the relevant models discussed in
literature.
* Adaptable or extensible transformations from/to models for advanced user
interfaces.
* Adaptation and customization mechanisms for model transformations leading
to tailored user interfaces with an high degree of usability.
* Integration of informal techniques and tools from traditional UI design,
i.e. by transformations from/to (non-trivial) UI design tools and different
kinds of prototypes
* Project experience on user interface development using a model-driven
development approach.
* Problems and requirements on model-driven engineering emerging from the
application area of model-driven user interface development

Important Dates
===============
Paper submission: August 11, 2006
Notification of acceptance: September 8, 2006
Final paper: September 17, 2006

Submissions
===========
We solicit short papers of maximum 4 pages length in ACM style addressing
one or more of the above topics. Submissions with in depth discussion of one
topic are preferred above submissions with a broader topic. Usage of an
illustrative example is encouraged.
All submitted papers will be reviewed by the program committee. All accepted
papers will be published electronically as CEUR proceedings.
It is intended to publish revised versions of the two best papers in the
LNCS MoDELS'06 workshop proceedings.

Workshop Format
===============
The workshop takes one day during the MoDELS/UML 2006 conference. In the
morning a selected number of participants will present their work in short
presentations. The afternoon is provided for intensive discussion and
formulation of conclusions.
