Subject: Communication and Information Sciences Ph.D. Program in Hawaii

Communication and information technologies are rapidly becoming integral to modern life, a transformation that calls for leaders in the nexus of technology and society with interdisciplinary expertise. The Communication and Information Sciences (CIS) PhD program at the University of Hawai'i was established in 1992 to meet this need. CIS presently has active focus areas in biomedical informatics, communication and information theories, communication policy and planning, human-computer interaction, information systems and services, management information systems, and a new focus area in social informatics.

Applications for Fall 2011 admissions are due February 1st for all applicants. Admission requires a master's degree in a related field of study. Full admission requirements and procedures are listed on our website at <http://www.hawaii.edu/cis/>.

This program is a collaborative effort between the School of Communication, Department of Information and Computer Sciences, Department of Information Technology Management, and the Library and Information Science Program. This partnership allows CIS PhD students to draw on the broad expertise held by the partnering faculty members in developing integrative advances in the communication and information sciences.
