*Introduction*
Usability is an important parameter in fostering the successful usage of
Information Technology artifacts. Human factors are an important aspect
when designing and implementing IT artifacts. The focus of the proposed
special issue is to consider all relevant aspects of usability and its
implications on successful adoption of IT applications in domain settings.
The objective is to discuss mechanisms for better design to meet the user
expectations and satisfaction. This special issue also aims to bring the
best practices and guidelines for usability in IT applications.

*Objective*
The objective of this proposed Special Issue is to invite ideas,
suggestions, recommendations, best practices and case studies examining the
inherent usability issues in Information Technology applications. The aim
is to provide opportunities for discussion of implications and
dissemination of good practices that will be useful or of interest to
academics and practitioners from a range of fields including information
systems, human computer interaction, computer supported cooperative work
and organizational science.

*Recommended Topics*

Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited
to) the following:

   - User experiences with technology infrastructures
   - Empirical studies of system evaluation in practice
   - Usability engineering lifecycle
   - Heuristic evaluation and usability testing
   - Usability data collection methods
   - Web and mobile usability
   - Usability and cultural implications
   - Usability and technology diffusion
   - Economic, ethical, security, privacy and legal issues

*Submission Procedure*
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special
theme issue on Usability of IT Applications: Issues and Implications on or
before 30 April 2013. All submissions must be original and may not be under
review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE
JOURNAL’S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at
http://www.igi-global.com/Files/AuthorEditor/guidelinessubmission.pdf. All
submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis.
Papers must follow APA style for reference citations.
