Are you building or developing a science gateway (portal, virtual research environment, digital interface)? If so, the Science Gateways Bootcamp could be for you.

Science Gateways Bootcamp: Strategies for Developing, Operating, and Sustaining Your Gateway is a week-long workshop for leaders of gateways who want to further develop and scale their work. Participants engage in hands-on activities to help them articulate the value of their work to key stakeholders and to create a strong development, operations, and sustainability plan. The Bootcamp includes:

- Core business strategy skills

- Technology best practices

- Long-term sustainability strategies

- Cybersecurity best practices

- Basic usability training

By the end of the Bootcamp, participants will have developed a working hypothesis of their sustainability strategy and identified the key action steps to get there. Participants will also have developed the skills needed to conduct basic usability tests on their gateways.

There is no cost to participate in the Bootcamp.

The next Bootcamp will take place August 13-17, 2018 in Chicago, IL. Applications will be accepted through June 22, 2018. Learn more and apply now: http://sciencegateways.org/bootcamp

“We were 'learning by doing' with a real project of our own, which is the best way to learn something new—now I have a much greater awareness on how to communicate our project to a broader audience and practical tools to achieve that. Lectures can tell me things, but practicing these principles with professional supervision is a whole new experience that is very productive and rewarding. The Bootcamp structure breaks down the whole process into meaningful and digestible steps—I was learning and understanding more at each step.”
