SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS

Virtual Worlds in Education and Training, track 16 at

The 14th IEEE Int'l Conf. on Advanced Learning Technologies - ICALT2014
Athens, Greece, July 7-10, 2014

EXTENDED DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 10

http://www.ask4research.info/icalt/2014/node/38

THEMES
A virtual world is able to inspire online learners to reach learning
goals without losing interests and motivation, and they reach out to
learners who are unable to attend classes because of work, family, or
traveling commitments, thus providing an alternative educational
platform.

The ability of virtual worlds, such as Second Life (SL) and the Open
Simulator project (OpenSim), to establish a community and assist in
breaking down communication barriers that might exist in asynchronous
web-based learning environments and to address limitations in
face-to-face learning for students who are unable or unwilling to
participate in social interactions due to lack of motivation or feeling
self-conscious.

To respond the increasing demands of exploiting virtual worlds in
practical educational settings, the Track on Virtual Worlds in Education
and Training invites researchers and practitioners to submit original
research in any of the following areas:

-- Theories behind online education in Virtual Worlds
-- Virtual Worlds pedagogy and learning design

-- Virtual worlds in general and special needs education
-- Virtual Worlds and serious games
-- Role-play experiments in Virtual Worlds
