Two-Year Post Doctoral Fellowship Position at the ISRG, York University

The Interactive Systems Research Group (ISRG) in the Department of Computer 
Science and Engineering at York University in Toronto, Canada invites 
applications for a postdoctoral position to work on innovative digital media 
research. York University has identified Digital Media as an area of strategic 
importance with a vision of further developing its existing, cross-faculty
of digital media research programs.  The Digital Media initiative is
designed to 
create new research and economic opportunities around an existing consortium 
of industrial and academic partners existing in the York region (CONCERT). see:

Applicants should have a relevant PhD (e.g. in interactive visualization, 3D
interfaces, virtual worlds, 3D content creation, augmented & virtual reality, 
tangible user interfaces, 3D reconstruction & computer graphics) or relevant 
industry experience.  Fluency in both written and spoken English, along with 
experience and a track record of writing scientific papers is essential.  
Candidates should already have published multiple papers in peer-reviewed 
conferences or journals. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record that 
demonstrates high-quality independent research. Applicants that have already 
performed research in fully interactive 3D systems will be preferred.

The position is located in the ISRG in Toronto, a rich community of students, 
researchers, and faculty investigating many aspects of Human Computer 
Interaction.   The ISRG is based within the Department of Computer Science and 
Engineering in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), and has 
established connections with the Departments of Film, Design, and Visual
Arts in 
the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) and with the York University community of 
researchers, which include artists, designers, kinesiologists, digital media 
practitioners, and those in the world-renowned Centre for Vision Research.

direct flights to all major destinations. Candidates will primarily work with 
Wolfgang Stuerzlinger (FSE), Melanie Baljko (FSE), and Caitlin Fisher (FFA).

This position is funded for two years, starting ideally in September 2008
but no 
later than December 31, 2008.   Salary is CAD $50,000 per year in salary, 
benefits and research allowance.
