The submission system<https://new.precisionconference.com/submissions> for MobileHCI'22 is now open, with full papers due on February 3, 2022 AoE. Full CfP follows ...

-----

The MobileHCI Conference Series has shaped research, development and practice in services used on mobile or within mobile contexts for over two decades. We interpret mobility broadly and welcome contributions related to any aspect of mobile HCI technology, systems, devices, techniques, experience, application, methods, tools, theories, and new perspectives.

The conference theme in 2022 is "Facing Mobile Realities." We cannot deny the pervasive impact of mobile technologies over the last two years of this latest pandemic. They have become the de facto means for connecting children and youth to their virtual classrooms, for remote doctor visits, to keep us 'in touch' with loved ones, for allowing us to keep working, and everything else in between. Yet, as researchers and practitioners, we are humbled by the many gaps that have needed our renewed attention. Facing Mobile Realities, our theme for MobileHCI'22, is a friendly nudge encouraging us to be ever more mindful in our research and towards bringing us closer to one another, socially, emotionally and even physically.

Suggested Topics
* Systems and Infrastructure: The design, architecture, deployment, and evaluation of systems and infrastructures that support development of or interaction with mobile devices and services.
* Devices and Techniques: The design, construction, usage, and evaluation of devices and techniques that create valuable new capabilities for mobile human-computer interaction.
* Applications and Experiences: Descriptions of the design, empirical study of interactive applications, or analysis of usage trends that leverage mobile devices and systems.
* MobileHCI for social good: Using mobile HCI to address societal challenges of our times such as health care, mobility, sustainability, social engagement, and civic engagement.
* Methods and Tools: New methods and tools designed for or applied to studying or building mobile user interfaces, applications, and mobile users.
* Theories and Models: Critical analysis or organizing theory with clearly motivated relevance to the design or study of mobile human-computer interaction; taxonomies of design or devices; well-supported essays on emerging trends and practice in mobile human-computer interaction.
* Provocations and new Perspectives: Well-argued and well-supported visions of the future of mobile computing; non-traditional topics that bear on mobility; underrepresented viewpoints and perspectives that convincingly bring something new to mobile research and practice.
Situation with Coronavirus/Covid-19

Based on the situation with covid-19 globally and the difficulties of running a physical in-person conference entirely, MobileHCI will be held in a hybrid mode with the provision of switching to other arrangements when/if needed. We are closely monitoring the situation and more information will be provided closer to the conference time.
Submission
Submission Platform

  * All materials must be submitted electronically to PCS<http://new.precisionconference.com/~sigchi> by the deadline
  * In PCS, first click "Submissions" at the top of the page, from the dropdown menus select "SIGCHI", "MobileHCI 2022" and the track you want to submit to.
Submission Format and Length
Important: This year, MobileHCI will continue to use the new ACM Master Article Templates and Publication Workflow.

  * SIGCHI conference proceedings master template (one column template - see templates below)
  *   ACM Templates and publishing process<https://www.acm.org/publications/taps/word-template-workflow> | Overleaf template<https://www.overleaf.com/gallery/tagged/acm-official#.WOuOk2e1taQ>
  * Typical page length is 12-16 pages (+ references), but any page length is allowed
  * Page length should be commensurate with contribution size (in the previous two-columns template, full-length papers had a maximum word-count of between 7000 and 9500 words). Paper length during the submission stage will not be handled as strictly as for previous MobileHCI conferences, but if your paper gets accepted we might request that you need to shorten it. Authors are encouraged to submit a paper of length proportional to its contribution. References are not included in the paper length. Reviewers will be instructed to weigh the contribution of a submission relative to its length, so papers with a length disproportionate to their contribution will be rejected. Shorter, more focused papers (akin to Notes or Short Papers in previous years) are encouraged, and will be reviewed appropriately.
  *   Guide to accessible submissions<https://mobilehci.acm.org/2022/participating/guide-to-accessible-submissions>
Anonymity
Anonymous for blind review, i.e. authors must remove their names and affiliations throughout all submission materials. We use a relaxed model that does not attempt to conceal all traces of identity from the body of the paper. However, you do need to completely remove identifying information from the title/header/acknowledgements area of the paper, and also make sure that it does not appear in the document's meta-data.
Citing prior work
Citations to your own previous work do NOT need to be anonymised, so that reviewers can ensure that all previous research has been taken into account. However, you should refer to your prior work in third person.
Selection process
Refereed, i.e. the editorial board and a set of external reviewers will review submitted papers.

  * The editorial board members will make decisions for any submitted papers as either accepted, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejected. These notifications are sent to authors on March 18, 2022.
  * If the initial decision is "minor revisions" or "major revision", the authors will have a 2-month revision cycle to address these changes, from March 18 until May 18, 2022. After the revised paper is submitted on May 18, the final decisions will be sent to authors on June 17, 2022. Please note that for "major revision" submissions, the external reviewers will be involved in checking all the required changes.
Publication
Archival, i.e. accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library as part of the Proceedings of ACM (PACM) and distributed in digital form to conference attendees. ACM will send you a copyright form, which you have to complete. Once completed, ACM will provide you the copyright information to be put into your paper. You can then submit the camera-ready version (including the copyright notice) through the submission system.
Presentation Format
Upon acceptance, you will be invited to present your paper at the conference. Presenting is encouraged but not required. The exact talk duration will be determined when the program is finalised.
Demo
Authors of accepted papers will be invited to participate in the demo session. For this, they will need to submit an additional document describing technical requirements for the demo. See Demos & Interactivity Prototypes<https://mobilehci.acm.org/2022/participating/call-for-demos>.
Novelty
Your submission must be original work. It cannot have been published elsewhere, nor can it be under concurrent review for publication by another conference or journal. All references must be complete, accurate, accessible to the HCI public, and conform to the Conference Proceedings Publication Format.
Copyright
Your submission must be original work. It cannot have been published elsewhere, nor can it be under concurrent review for publication by another conference or journal. All references must be complete, accurate, accessible to the HCI public, and conform to the Conference Proceedings Publication Format. Do not cite publications that are proprietary or confidential at the time of publication. Final camera-ready versions of accepted submissions therefore must be accompanied by a signed copyright form which will be provided to accepted authors. All submissions conflicting with one or more guidelines will be removed before the reviewing process.
Concurrent submissions
There should not be concurrent submissions to other conferences or tracks (see concurrent submissions guidelines for details).
