The 7 February deadline for full papers and tutorial proposals is fast
approaching, for the premiere annual European HCI conference.

"HCI2003: Designing for Society" in Bath, England, 8-12 September, is
the 17th conference in the series organised by the British HCI Group.
See http://www.hci2003.org/ for more.

It continues the highly successful and enjoyable series that includes
HCI2002 in London (incorporating EUPA2002), IHM-HCI2001 in Lille, France
(a co-production with AFIHM), HCI2000 in Sunderland and the joint
conference with IFIP TC13 in Edinburgh, Interact99.

The conference has a long tradition of covering the entire HCI field,
being of sufficient size to attract world-class keynotes, tutorials and
papers, yet small enough to provide a pre-eminent networking opportunity
for the HCI community and friends from dozens of countries.

With such a strong community tradition, it is no surprise that this
year's theme encourages us to take a look at how HCI can become more
effective in ensuring that computing and communications technologies for
the general public are inclusive, usable and fit for purpose.

Bath is the perfect venue for this year's conference, a timeless spa
city rich in heritage. The Roman influences remain, and the graceful
Georgian crescents, which provide the backdrop for Jane Austen's novels,
are a key factor in its UNESCO world heritage status. Set in the
rolling Cotswold hills, it is a tranquil destination yet the vibrant
University of Bath campus and nearby Bristol provide every contemporary
facility. Communications links, especially by rail and motorway, are
excellent and several Channel ferry ports are a picturesque drive away.

Only full papers and tutorial proposals are required for the 7 February
deadline. The second deadline, for all other submissions, is 9 May.
