Call for Papers
Special Issue of ACM Transactions on Accessible Computing (TACCESS) on

 Accessible Healthcare Technologies

Issues related to providing healthcare are emerging as a worldwide priority. As healthcare needs soar, providers are increasingly looking to technology to provide help for managing care. This technology is critical, for example, in systems for diagnosing and treating illness, systems for data management, eHealth, telehealthcare, and in patient management of their own health. These issues are challenging, particularly as they relate to ensuring equal access to services and information by disabled users and older adults.

The aim of this Special Issue is to present high quality and original manuscripts related to the topic of accessible healthcare technologies that will contribute to the design of systems that support the needs and preferences of disabled users and older adults. Manuscripts must be original, but significant expansions and revisions of papers recently presented at conferences are specifically permitted. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

Studies of issues related to the accessibility and usability of electronic health records
Studies related to the use of eHealth or telehealthcare technologies with disabled or older users
Studies related to the impact of IT on quality of life with respect to healthcare
Studies related to systems to support clinicians in working with disabled patients
