The deadline for submissions to *Data Collection by the People, for the
People* has just been extended to* **Jan 18th 2010*, in response to the
overlap with the CHI camera ready deadline.

Join us for an entertaining and informative CHI workshop, including a day
exploring the city of Vancouver with smartphones for citizen science and
participatory urbanism, and a day of playing with data and group
brainstorming.

*Details:*
Data Collection by the People, for the People is a CHI 2011 workshop to
explore data from the crowd, bringing together mobile crowdsourcing &
participatory urbanism researchers with data analysis and visualization
researchers. The workshop is two-day event beginning with day of field work
in the city of Vancouver, trying out mobile crowdsourcing applications and
data curation tools. This workshop seeks to engage primarily participants
who have concrete experience with crowdsourced data. Participants are
encouraged to share tools or applications which they have built or explored
which can be used to collect, share, manipulate, or analyze data.
Participants who have experiences with curation, analysis, and visualization
of mobile crowdsourced data are also encouraged. Our goal is to provoke
discussion and brainstorming, enabling both data collection researchers and
data curation researchers to benefit from mutually learned lessons about
crowdsourced data.

Prospective participants should apply by submitting a 4 page position paper,
in as a PDF document in CHI Extended Abstract
Format<http://www.chi2011.org/authors/format.html#extendedformat>.
