 ===========================================================================
===========================================

           The 4th International Conference on Frontier of Computer Science
and Technology (FCST 2009)

                                 Shanghai, China, December 17-19, 2009

                               Sponsored by Shanghai Jiao Tong University

<Introduction>

The FCST 2009 derives from the Japan-China Joint Workshop on Frontier of
Computer Science and Technology, which was

held in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Japan, November 2006 (FCST 2006), Wuhan, China,
November 2007 (FCST 2007) and Nagasaki, Japan,

December 2008 (FCST 2008). The purpose of FCST 2009 conference is to provide
an open forum for computer scientists and

researchers to present, discuss and exchange state-of-the-art ideas, results
and experiences in all areas of computer

science and technology.

<Scope and Interests>

The FCST 2009 conference provides a forum for engineers and scientists in
academia, industry, and government to address

all resulting profound challenges including technical, safety, social,
legal, political, and economic issues, and to

present and discuss their ideas, results, work in progress and experience on
all aspects of computer science and technology.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  Parallel and Distributed Computing

  Pervasive, Grid, P2P and Cloud Computing

  Embedded Computing and Systems

  Database and Data Management

  Network and Internet Computing

  Computer Vision and Image Processing

  Wireless Sensor Networks and Mobile Computing

  Reliability, Fault Tolerance and Distributed Transaction Processing

  Security and trustworthy Computing

  Artificial Intelligence and its Applications

  Theoretical Computer Science

  System Software and Software Engineering

  Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition

  Human-Computer Interaction

  Other Emerging Topics

<Workshops>

We encourage researchers worldwide to submit workshop proposals according to
the following information/guidelines:

The FCST 2009 will host one day of workshops co-located with FCST 2009. We
invite workshop proposals from interested communities. New workshops in
emerging areas that can engage participants in greater interactions are
welcome.

FCST 2009 will provide basic support for the workshops in the form of
registration, publicity, meeting rooms, and help in arranging meal service.
To promote flexibility, the details of the format of the workshop, the form
of submissions and presentations, and the likes are left to the workshop
organizers.

Workshop proposals should include an overview/scope, names of workshops
general, program and steering committee chairs (as appropriate), history of
the workshop (if held previously by the same team), reasons why the workshop
would be successful, relationship with the main conference, and short bios
of all chairs, should be submitted to Dr. Xiaofei Liao
([log in to unmask]) and Dr. Zhuzhong Qian ([log in to unmask]) with the
subject "FCST-09 WORKSHOP PROPOSAL".

<Proceedings>

The accepted papers of all workshops have to be presented orally at the
conference and will be published in proceedings of FCST 2009 conference by
IEEE Computer Society, indexed by EI.
