The DIS 2006 conference will be held in State College, PA on June
26-28, 2006. The Doctoral Consortium (held the day prior to the main
conference) provides an opportunity for doctoral students to explore
and develop their research interests in an interdisciplinary
workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished research
faculty. The Consortium has the following specific objectives:
Provide a supportive setting for feedback on students' current
research and guidance on future research directions.
Offer each student comments and fresh perspectives on their work from
faculty and students outside their own institution.
Promote the development of a supportive community of scholars and a
spirit of collaborative research.
Contribute to the conference goals through interaction with other
researchers and conference events.
The Consortium will be held on Sunday June 25 and will include about
12 doctoral students and three faculty. The extended abstracts of
graduate student participants will be published in the conference
proceedings, and posters summarizing the students' PhD projects will
be exhibited at the conference.

Submissions are invited from current graduate students pursuing a PhD
project who would benefit from detailed workshop discussions of their
doctoral research by a panel of established researchers. Applicants
who are selected will receive a stipend to defray the cost of
conference registration, travel, accommodation, and meals (amount to
be determined).

Applications are due by email to [log in to unmask] by February 15. For
