                            Call for Short Papers

                   EXTENDED DEADLINE: Tuesday June 19, 2007

                    Newport Beach, CA, November 5-7, 2007
                       In cooperation with ACM SIGGRAPH

We in invite you to participate in the ACM Symposium on Virtual  
Reality Software
and Technology (VRST) 2007 in Newport Beach, CA, USA.

ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) is an
international forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge among
researchers and developers concerned with virtual reality software and
technol-ogy.  VRST 2007 will provide an opportunity for VR  
researchers to
interact, share new results, show live demonstrations of their work, and
discuss emerging directions for the field.

Due to popular demand, the deadline for short paper submissions has  
been extended.

Short papers due:                   June 19, 2007

*** Call for Short Papers ***

ACM VRST 2007 seeks original, unpublished papers documenting new  
contributions, practice and experience, or novel applications, from  
all areas of
virtual environments.

Best short papers will be selected for the Nov. 2008 special issue of  
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (CG&A) on Virtual Reality.

Authors are required to submit fully formatted papers, with graphs,  
images, and
other special areas arranged as intended for final publication. The  
paper preparation guidelines are described at The maximum length  
for a short paper
submission is 4 pages. Reviewers will be instructed to weigh the  
contribution of
a paper relative to its length.

Submissions may be optionally accompanied by additional materials  
such as
images, videos, or electronic documents. These materials do not form  
a part of
the official submission and will be viewed only at the discretion of the

The following three distinguished speakers will be featured at VRST  

Holly Rushmeier, Professor of Computer Science, Yale University
J. Edward Colgate, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern  
Larry Smarr, Director of CalIT(2) and Professor of Computer Science,

VRST'07 will be held in the Fairmont Newport Beach Hotel, Orange County,
California.  Orange County is one of the most popular areas for  
scientific meetings and international symposia. Its proximity to the  
beaches, majestic coastlines, and recrea-tional facilities coupled  
with the
pleasant climate make it a very popular touristic destination.

The program includes a welcome reception on Monday, Nov 5th and a  
banquet followed by an open-house evening to the Graphics and  
Laboratories of the Bren School of Information and Computer Sci-ences at
University of California, Irvine on the evening of Tuesday, Nov 6th,
