HCI International 2020 will be held virtually
19-24 July 2020

There is still time for prospective conference participants to submit
their work to be considered, following peer review, for on-line
presentation and for publication in the ‘Late Breaking Work’ volumes
(LNCS for papers and CCIS for posters) of the Springer proceedings to
appear just after the conference. Following a fast-track peer-review
process by at least two reviewers, the review decision is communicated
to the authors typically within a week.

As a result of the Danish government's announcement, dated 21 April
2020, to ban all large events (above 500 participants) until the 1st of
September, the HCII 2020 Conference cannot be held physically. Further
announcements of details regarding this ‘digital transformation’ of the
conference will be made soon, through the conference website as well as
via direct email communications to all registered participants.
Following the digital transformation, the conference registration fee
has been *reduced by 50%* <http://2020.hci.international/registration.html>.

*Submit a **PAPER proposal*
<http://2020.hci.international/latebreaking.html>,**as an extended
abstract, of 800 words corresponding to one of the Conference Thematic
Areas and their topics <http://2020.hci.international/about.html>. If
accepted, the authors will be cordially invited to present their work
online during the Conference, while their paper (full camera-ready
papers, typically 12 pages but no less than 10 and no more than 20
pages) will be included in the "HCII 2020 - Late Breaking Papers"
Springer LNCS Proceedings to be published just after the conference.

*Submit a **POSTER proposal*
<http://2020.hci.international/latebreakingposter.html>, as an abstract
of 300 words corresponding to one of the Conference Thematic Areas and
their topics <http://2020.hci.international/about.html>. If accepted,
the authors will be cordially invited to present their work online
during the Conference, while their ‘extended poster abstract’ in the
form of short research paper (typically 6 pages but no less than 4 and
no more than 8 pages, will be included in the "HCII 2020 - Late Breaking
Posters" Springer CCIS Proceedings to be published just after the
conference.

The timetable for both paper and poster submissions is:

  * Deadline for abstract submission: *Open until 25 May 2020*
  * Notification of review outcome: 1 week after submission
  * Deadline for camera-ready submission and registration: *15 June 2020*

The conference proceedings will be published by Springer and will appear
exactly as originally scheduled.

The format of the conference program will change, spreading the duration
of the conference to *six days (19-24 July 2020)*, now occupying also
the period originally scheduled for the pre-conference tutorials that
have been cancelled.  In this way, the daily load of the conference is
reduced to four hours: two sessions, two-hours each. The conference will
start and end at a different time each day; the conference program will
allow participants from different time zones (75 countries around the
world) to join the conference during time-periods which, for some of the
time, are more convenient for them, taking into account the ‘time-zone’
of the presenters.

*Keynote speech: *

Professor Gregg Vanderheiden (University of Maryland, USA) will give the
Keynote Speech <http://2020.hci.international/keynote-speech>during the
Opening Plenary Session on Tuesday 21 July 2020, starting at 17:00 and
ending at 18:00 Central European Time (CET). The title of his speech
will be /“Advancing Technologies will allow to reinvent HCI - Can we use
it to finally address digital interface inequality - with less effort -
and to better effect?”/
