PSMD05 - INTERACT 2005
International Workshop on Plastic Services for Mobile Devices
http://www.dis.uniroma1.it/~psmd05/index.html
-------------------------------------------------------------
*** held in conjunction with INTERACT 2005 ***
Rome, Italy, September 12, 2005
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission of papers: Jun 26th, 2005 (extended)
Notification of acceptance: Jul 8th, 2005
Reception of final version: Jul 15th, 2005
Publication of on-line proc.: Jul 25th, 2005
Workshop: Sep 12th, 2005
Nowadays, the availability of reliable connections through handheld
mobile devices such as PDAs and smart phones and the enhancements of
display quality, has introduced the possibility of accessing information
and simple services from remote clients at any place anytime. The aim of
this workshop, that rises within the MAIS project, is to bring together
specialists from academia and industry working in the field of mobile
computing and providing services that are mainly targeted for portable
and little devices. All the aspects involved in this issue are welcome.
That includes methods, models and tools for designing, executing, and
evaluating applications that automatically or semi-automatically adapt
to their context of use in terms of mobile devices, user profiles, and
environments. Adaptation may consist in a remoulding and/or
redistribution of the service functional core and/or presentation,
depending on the available resources. The resulting service may be
distributed among devices. Related aspects may range from devices
characterization to efficient resources managements (e.g., devices and
screens usage, precomputed components), including software architecture
issues, multi-channel adaptation, adapted or new information
visualization techniques for small displays, quality criteria and metrics.
WORKSHOP FORMAT
Ideally, 15 to 20 participants will attend the workshop. Participants
will be asked to submit either a position paper (6 pages maximum) or an
unpublished research paper (10 pages maximum). A position paper
expresses opinions and experience gained by the authors while a research
paper presents more formal and scientific approach in details.
