For anyone teaching empirical research methods for HCI, you might want to check out GoStats.

GoStats avoids the pain and suffering of learning a full-featured stats app, such as SPSS or R. It covers the majority, if not all, of the statistical procedures HCI students need in analyzing data for empirical research.  '

The most common parametric and non-parametric procedures are included.  AnovaGUI, for example, supports sixteen experiment designs.  The user manual (API) has numerous HCI examples and is written in the language of HCI.  Instead of reading about exposing participants to treatments, GoStats speaks of giving test conditions to participants gauge their performance in doing a computing task.

The GoStats procedures are GUI-style and easy to learn and use.  Most, such as the ANOVA, can be performed simply by (i) opening a data file and (ii) clicking "Analyse".
