One I hadn't thought of was mentioned to me by a blind person not
long ago:
Text-only browsers render tables and frames from top to bottom and
left to right. A left-side nav bar forces the blind person to wade
through all the navigation stuff before getting to the page content.
It may or not make a difference to sighted users, but it really
makes a difference to blind users.
