UPCOMING EVENTS

Web usability is finally making its mark in a mega-$1000-
registration-fee-Internet-for-the-big-rollers conference:
Web '97 (three weeks away) has an entire track devoted to
usability. Past events like this have had only a few scattered
sessions on the topic, if any at all.

UE2 looks are making government sites more usable.

The only series of conferences devoted to the human factors
of the Web continues with #3 at US West in Colorado in June.
Submissions are due at the end of March.

RESEARCH

The Winter 1997 World Wide Web Journal issue focuses on the
user interface.

Two papers from Michael Levi and Frederick Conrad on evaluation and
testing the Bureau of Labor Statistics site.
