For these additional reasons I often elect to include a welcome  
message after login:

* To reward the user for logging in. People love to see their own names.
* To (potentially) deepen the relationship with the user.
* To allow the user to self-correct if it's common for one user to  
have multiple logins/accounts (for example, common for marketers to  
maintain several different logins in social media spaces like Twitter)
