I would like to hear the communities expierence in publishing in open- 
access or indexed HCI journals.

When it comes to decide in which journal one wants to submit a  
manuscript, I end up always having the trouble to decide between open- 
access or indexed journals. While I certainly like the idea of open  
access, I do not know a single HCI journal that is open access and  
still indexed in system like e.g. Scopus or ISI. For the scientific  
career it is crucial that you publish your works in important  
journals. Unfortunately this is often measured by Impact Factors and  
citation rates (I know that these measurements are very controversial,  
but they are used anyway).

Choosing journals like e.g. IJHCS, CHB or IwC seems a good choice,  
because they are indexed and high quality. At the same time your work  
is not accessible like if you chose an open access journal like e.g.  
AHCI. We published one article in AHCI and I noticed, that it got  
cited a couple of times within a short period of time. This could be  
of course coincidence.

What is your experience for this choice? Is there a indexed HCI  
journal that is open access at the same time? I would like to hear  
your experiences.
