Yesterday's New York Times Magazine was the Annual Design Issue. See it
online, or at your public library. http://www.nytimes.com/pages/magazine/
(Requires free registration, link is probably only good until next Sunday's
magazine comes out.)

While it wasn't about UI design or the Web, I enjoyed reading it more than
most design magazines I read. It's a good introduction to design as well as
a good survey of how designers solved actual problems for products from
chairs to political posters to the iPod.
