I agree we should not think linearly but rather multi-dimensionally...
Therefore, when you design your breadcrumbs to be laid out vertically, don't
forget to set the tab index because screen readers read from left to right,
top to bottom and your breadcrumbs will not make sense with a talking
browser if other information is laid out next to them, which is very likely,
otherwise you may end up with a very long unappealing page.
