Hello again,

Thanks to all for chipping in. Thanks also Juan Lanus who, in a detailed
private message, summed the options up pretty well, saying "for affordance I
use font, border and color".

Perhaps obvious but I wanted to make sure there wasn't some brilliant new
idea out there that had escaped our attention. We'll probably go for the
reduced clutter of hiding the controls when they don't have focus - then
usability test with our specific audience to make sure they'll understand
the cues we're providing. But I can certainly also see the merit of
displaying the controls for fields that are editable at any given moment.

We'll also make sure to take advantage of hover effects on the mouse cursor
as well as the underlying element. I'm partial to Flickr style light yellow
highlighting during hover, similar to something Juan suggested.

Thanks again and good luck with all of your projects.

Best regards,
Ulrik
