------------------
AIMS AND HISTORY
------------------
We invite you to participate in the ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality
Software and Technology (VRST) 2009 in Kyoto, Japan.

ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) is an
international forum for the exchange of experience and knowledge among
researchers and developers concerned with virtual reality software and
technology. This year, VRST 2009 is co-sponsored by ACM and the
Virtual Reality Society of Japan (VRSJ). VRST 2009 will provide an
opportunity for VR researchers to interact, share new results, show
live demonstrations of their work, and discuss emerging directions for
the field.

This year, VRST received 99 submissions (61 full papers and 38 short
papers) from labs from five continents. The international program
committee was made up of 45 esteemed virtual reality researchers. The
program committee accepted 17 full papers, and 22 short papers (an
acceptance rate of 27.9% for full papers, 23.7% for short papers and
39.4% overall). The program also includes 25 posters and demonstrations.
The careful consideration has resulted in a conference program, which is
one that we believe attendees and the virtual reality community will be
both proud of and find significant value in its contents.
