The Sustainable Blue Economy and One Health doctorate is focused on advanced third-level training on the subject of "Sustainable Blue Economy" - an emerging sector, relating to both consolidated and innovative sectors of the marine economy - linked to the European Green Deal and the need to adapt economic development to sustainability criteria in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The course and its integration with the One Health approach recognizes a close link between human, animal and environmental health for the improvement of the well-being of marine ecosystems, species and the communities that depend on it.

The PhD course is characterized by an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach, provides for a trans-sectoral contamination and aims to provide doctoral students, through a rigorous methodological approach, with the specific and transversal skills necessary to develop innovative research projects and to formulate hypotheses and application solutions capable of reconciling the needs of society, the economy and the marine environment.

The main topics are related but not limited to:

- new business, production, consumption, evaluation and impact models, environmental accounting, cost accounting and sustainability reporting;
- renewable energies of the marine environment and the technologies and models of economic development and socio-economic effects of the use of renewable energies from the sea;
- scientific, social, economic and legal profiles of sea protection;
- ecological restoration/restoration of the seabed, in line with the provisions of the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030, and an integral part of the European Green Deal and with the PNRR and development of a sector related to the reclamation and restoration (restoration) of marine ecosystems;
- digital twin in economics of the sea for sustainability.

The training offer includes an inclusive, integrated and interactive teaching methodology, characterized by both theoretical and practical lessons (workshops, project work, simulations, internships and internships) and by a constant synergy and contamination with the territory, public institutions and companies private. There are also periods of training and research abroad and training meetings with key experts in the sector (including international ones).

The PhD course is activated through a specific agreement between the Leonardo da Vinci Telematic University and the G. d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, on the basis of which PhD students will also have access to research and teaching services and facilities from the G. d'Annunzio University.
