The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Wesleyan University
invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in Computer
Science to begin July 1, 2023. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer
Science or a related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired
as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an
Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of
appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related
field within one year of hire. We encourage candidates in all areas of
Computer Science to apply, including those who deepen or broaden our
existing research strengths, and especially encourage candidates who can
contribute to the diversity (broadly conceived) of the department. Theory,
programming languages, algorithms, network science, networking, and privacy
and security are well-represented in the department.

Duties include conducting an independent program of research, teaching,
advising and mentoring students, and participating in faculty governance at
the departmental and university level. Tenure track faculty in Computer
Science at Wesleyan teach three courses per year. Wesleyan values both
research and teaching very highly, has a strong, diverse student body, and
offers a substantial startup package, a generous sabbatical program, and
competitive salaries and benefits.

Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research
statement, and teaching statement. Applicants must also have three letters
of recommendation, at least one of which discusses teaching, submitted by
the recommenders at the AcademicJobsOnline.org website. In the cover
letter, applicants should describe how they will embrace the college's
commitment to fostering an inclusive community, as well as their experience
working with individuals from historically marginalized or underserved
groups.

Applications must be submitted online through AcademicJobsOnline.org. We
will begin reviewing applications on October 15, 2022, but will continue
accepting applications until the position is filled. After October 15
please feel free to contact [log in to unmask] to inquire about the
status of the search.
