Post-doctoral research  position at Eurecom, Sophia Antipolis, France

The Post-doc  position is in the context of an new European
FP7 project called CloudSpaces on personal clouds, conducted by Eurecom in
collaboration with partners from Canonical, EPFL, EyeOS, TISSAT and
Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

Further information

Applicants should be interested in distributed and/or peer-to-peer
systems, have a good knowledge of distributed algorithms, storage and
networking, and very good programming skills.
Significant software production in the area of distributed systems is
undeniably a plus.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Computer Science at the
time they start the position.

The duration of the appointment is 18 months that can be extended by
another 18 months.


In the following years, users will access their data from a variety of
devices, operating
systems and applications. The CloudSpaces project advocates for a
paradigm shift from
application-centric to person-centric models where users will retake
the control of their information.
CloudSpaces aims to create the next generation of open Personal Clouds using
three main building blocks: CloudSpaces Storage, CloudSpaces Share and
CloudSpaces Services.

The contribution of Eurecom to CloudSpaces
concerns the design of the CloudSpaces Storage layer. In particular,
the emphasis will be on building adaptive
replication and storage protocols suitable for heterogeneous networks.

Work description

The post-doc researcher will coordinate Eurecom's contribution to the
CloudSpaces project; this involves
(i)	participating in research on replication and synchronization in
heterogeneous networks,
(ii)	participating in the development and testing of the tools developed
(iii)	coordinating the development with the other project partners and
(iv)	 integrating the tools developed at Eurecom into the overall
project environment.

Eurecom (http://www.eurecom.fr) is a graduate school in communication
systems founded in 1992 by EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology, Lausanne) and Telecom Paristech (Ecole Nationale
Supérieure des Telecommunications). Eurecom's activity includes
research and graduate-level teaching in networking, security,
