Job title: Lecturer in Computer Science (4 posts)
Salary: £42,149 - £53,348 pa or (pro rata)
Closing date: 17 June 2022

We are looking to appoint FOUR highly motivated, research-focused individuals as Lecturers in the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool. The successful candidates will undertake research of international standard and contribute to teaching modules and the supervision of student projects in the department at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These positions complement our recent successful targeted recruitment in the areas of High-Performance Computing, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Optimisation, and Robotics; we remain open to further applications from candidates in these areas.
The appointments will be based on the proven research track record or industrial experience of the candidates. We value theoretical, applied, and interdisciplinary research and research leading to economic and social impact outside academia. Our four overarching research themes are:
• Algorithms and Networks
• Artificial Intelligence
• Economics and Computation
• Logical Methods in Computer Science
Your research will align with one or more of these themes, but strong applicants broadening our expertise will also be considered. You should have a PhD in Computer Science or a relevant discipline with an excellent track record or demonstrable potential for innovative research and teaching. Candidates will also be encouraged to engage with other internal and external collaborators through initiatives at both the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the University level.

We are committed to encouraging, developing, and supporting individuals in their research and academic careers. We continually strive to create an inclusive environment, which values a diverse workforce and we recognise that many individuals value flexibility in their work/life balance. These posts are full-time but may be taken up on a part-time (a minimum of 0.5 FTE) or on a job share basis. We strongly encourage applications from individuals from groups under-represented within our workforce, particularly women and people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background.

Please note that in terms of responsibilities and recognition, the position of a newly appointed lecturer in the UK is comparable to that of an assistant professor in the United States.
