Post-doctoral research position at Eurecom, Sophia Antipolis, France

The Post-doc position is in the context of an new European FP7
project called CloudSpaces on personal clouds, conducted by Eurecom in
collaboration with partners from Canonical, EPFL, EyeOS, TISSAT and
Universitat Rovira i Virgili.

Further information

Applicants should be interested in distributed and/or peer-to-peer
systems, have a good knowledge of distributed algorithms, storage and
networking, and very good programming skills. Significant software
production in the area of distributed systems is undeniably a plus.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Computer Science at
the time they start the position.

The duration of the appointment is 18 months that can be extended by
another 18 months.

In the following years, users will access their data from a variety of
devices, operating systems and applications. The CloudSpaces project
advocates for a paradigm shift from application-centric to
person-centric models where users will retake the control of their
information. CloudSpaces aims to create the next generation of open
Personal Clouds using three main building blocks: CloudSpaces Storage,
CloudSpaces Share and CloudSpaces Services.

The contribution of Eurecom to CloudSpaces concerns the design of the
CloudSpaces Storage layer. In particular, the emphasis will be on
building adaptive replication and storage protocols suitable for
heterogeneous networks.

Work description

The post-doc researcher will coordinate Eurecom's contribution to the
CloudSpaces project; this involves

(i) participating in research on replication and synchronization
in heterogeneous networks,
