MAMA 2018
The Twentieth Workshop on MAthematical performance Modeling and Analysis
Held in conjunction with ACM SIGMETRICS 2018
June 18th, 2018 -- Irvine, CA, USA
Sponsored by ACM SIGMETRICS
http://www.sigmetrics.org/mama/
The complexity of computer systems, networks and applications, as well as
the advancements in computer technology, continue to grow at a rapid pace.
Mathematical analysis, modeling and optimization are playing an important
role in research studies to investigate fundamental issues and tradeoffs
at the core of performance problems in the design and implementation of
complex computer systems, networks and applications.
The Twentieth Workshop on MAthematical performance Modeling and Analysis
(MAMA 2018) seeks to bring together researchers working on the
mathematical, methodological and theoretical aspects of performance
analysis, modeling and optimization. It is intended to provide a forum at
SIGMETRICS conferences for talks on early research in the more
mathematical areas of computer performance analysis. These talks tend to
be based on very recent research results (including work in progress) or
on new research results that will be otherwise submitted only to a journal
(or recently have been submitted to a journal). Thus, part of the goal is
to complement and supplement the SIGMETRICS Conference program with such
talks without removing any theoretical contributions from the main
technical program.
This year's workshop will be held on June 18. In addition to the
presentation of short papers, the workshop will include time for informal
technical discussions among the speakers and attendees.
Important Dates
Friday, May 18, 2018: Paper Submission (Hard deadline)
Friday, June 1, 2018: Author Notification
NOTE: Authors will need to register upon being notified of acceptance.
Monday, June 4, 2018: Early Registration Deadline
Monday, June 11, 2018: Final Versions Due
Monday, June 18, 2018: Workshop
Monday, July 23, 2018: Final Short Papers for PER Due
MAMA 2018 encourages the submission of short papers describing early
research on the general mathematical, methodological and theoretical
aspects of performance analysis, modeling and optimization. Authors are
asked to submit 3-page papers, using the standard PER format (
http://www.sigmetrics.org/sig-alternate-per.cls), before the above
deadline. Submissions violating these formatting guidelines will be
returned without review. Papers should be submitted electronically, as an
e-mail attachment, to mss((at))us.ibm.com. Postscript or PDF is preferred,
although other arrangements can be made by contacting Mark Squillante
(mss((at))us.ibm.com).
Submissions will be reviewed by the MAMA program committee, from which a
number of papers will be selected for inclusion in the workshop program. A
version of the accepted papers will be available at the workshop. Revised
versions of these papers will be published in a special issue of
Performance Evaluation Review (PER), with a due date after the workshop
making it possible for authors to incorporate the results of, or simply
mention, any relevant discussions at the workshop. Authors of accepted
papers grant ACM permission to publish them in print and digital formats.
Note that there are no copyright issues with PER, and thus authors retain
the copyright of their work with complete freedom to submit their work
elsewhere.
Please see the MAMA 2018 web pages at http://www.sigmetrics.org/mama/ for
additional information about the workshop... For more information, please
contact Mark Squillante (mss((at))us.ibm.com).
