On behalf of ACM SIGMETRICS, I am pleased to announce
the recipients of two major SIG awards this year.
Professor Erol Gelenbe is the recipient of the
ACM SIGMETRICS Achievement Award, to recognize his
distinguished career contributions in performance
modeling and in the training of the next generation
of performance evaluation researchers. Erol currently
holds the Dennis Gabor Chair at Imperial College London.
He will receive his award at ACM SIGMETRICS 2008.
Further information about Erol is available on the
conference Web site:
Dr. Devavrat Shah is the first-ever recipient of the
new ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star Researcher Award.
This award recognizes up-and-coming researchers who
have made noted performance evaluation contributions
at an early stage in their careers. Dr. Shah is currently
an Assistant Professor in EECS at MIT. He will receive
his award at ACM SIGMETRICS 2008. Further information
about him is also available on the conference Web site.
Finally, I would also like to express my appreciation to
the award selection committees. The SIGMETRICS Achievement
