Summer school on Practice and Theory of Concurrent Computing July 3-7, 2017
Saint-Petersburg, Russia Organized by ITMO University/Telecom ParisTech,
supported by DevExperts, Yandex, and DISCMAT ANR project.
http://neerc.ifmo.ru/sptcc/ Concurrency is everywhere. Be it a mainstream
multi-core machine, a computing cluster, or a large-scale distributed
service, a modern computing system involves multiple processes that
concurrently perform independent computations and communicate to
synchronize their activities. Understanding concurrency is therefore
getting essential to be competitive in practice or research in computer
science. The school will offer courses on a wide range of practical and
theoretical aspects of concurrency given by renowned experts in the field.
The program will cover the following topics: - Concurrent data structures -
Advanced locking techniques - Wait-free and lock-free computing -
Distributed universality - Transactional memory - Distributed machine
learning - Relaxed concurrent data structures - Concurrency in weak memory
models - Lock-free memory management Speakers: Dan Alistarh (IST Austria &
ETH Zurich) Rachid Guerraoui (EPFL) Danny Hendler (Ben Gurion University)
Maurice Herlihy (Brown University) Anne-Marie Kermarrec (INRIA Rennes) Erez
