Alan Brain said in an email timestamped Fri, 9 Jul 2004 20:51:06 +1000 that:

"[..]

The first non-Japanese payload to be carried on board a NASDA rocket was the
Australian 'Fedsat' satellite.

The satellite bus was programmed entirely in Ada-95.

[..]
The RTOS was RTEMS, originally designed in Ada, but later ported to C. This
is freeware, it cost us nothing.
The application was programmed using the GNAT 1.13p compiler. Free, it cost us
nothing.
[..]"

Whereas in Message-ID <01de01c1afd3$3f354320$6db80aca@avis> timestamped Thu, 7 Feb 2002 23:30:36 +1100 in thread "Re: Maintenance of Satellite Code in-flight" on the Team-Ada email list, Alan Brain had said of FedSat's On-Board Software:

"[..]

[..] It's pure RTEMS 4.5 (open source) with gnat 13.10p (the public, free version) on top. Cost zilch. It's pure RTEMS 4.5 (open source) with gnat 13.10p (the public, free version) on top. Cost zilch. [..]"

Remembering exactly which version of GNAT was used seems to be not happening. GNAT 3.13p would have been about the most recent gratis version of GNAT available at the time.

Colin Paul Gloster
