The number is ISO/IEC 14882:1998(E)

And it can be downloaded on the ANSI site. (This information can be found in the
C++ standards FAQ at:

        http://reality.sgi.com/austern_mti/std-c++/faq.html#PartB)

Of course I found the FAQ AFTER I found spent an hour looking for the standard -
took the long way there ;-(

        http://webstore.ansi.org/AnsiDocStore/default.asp

There's a link on this page to the C++ standard download page...

http://webstore.ansi.org/ansidocstore/product.asp?sku=ISO%2FIEC+14882%2D1998

Of course to get there, you have to set up an account. But it's free to do this.

Also, unlike Ada, the standard costs $18 to download (2.49 Mb PDF format) and
$170 (from memory) to get a hard copy!

It's 750 pages long.

There's even a section titled, "Ambiguity resolution" that discusses a problem
with the language where an expression can look like a declaration! Don't try
this in Ada folks! ;-)

But, for someone who likes to know that the standard is (being spoiled with
Ada), it's a must-have.

        Hi, Everyone,

        There was a mention in the last few weeks that Ada95 and
        C++ were the only two international OO standard languages.
        The number/id for the C++ standard was given ... does anyone
        still have that?

        Thanks,
        Rick
