Dear Team Ada:

Crosstalk, a US DoD sponsored journal for defense software engineering,
is conducting a contest to recognize the outstanding performance of
software teams and to promote best practices. They plan to recognize the
top five software projects. Each of these top five software projects
will be recognized at the Software Technology Conference in Salt Lake
City (STC 2003) during the week of 28 April - 1 May 2003. Details are
provided in the announcement below.

You are strongly encouraged to submit your Ada project for this
competition. This would be a splendid advertisement for Ada in the
première DoD Software Engineering Conference.

To help you decide to enter your project, if your project is selected,
SIGAda will provide a free conference registration to SIGAda 2003 (venue
TBD) and a $500 travel stipend. Those willing to talk about their
projects at SIGAda 2002 at Houston at Clear Lake this December are
encouraged to contact John McCormick, the Program Chair, ASAP. John can
be reached at <[log in to unmask]>. The restrictions for the STC
Contest do not apply for inclusion at SIGAda 2002.

If there are any questions, please contact me at <[log in to unmask]>.

Subject: CrossTalk's Top 5 Announcement
Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 14:01:50 -0600
From: OO-ALC/MASE Top 5 Information <[log in to unmask]>

Dear Sir or Madam:

It's that time again, time to announce that CrossTalk is now searching
for the top five software projects. Our contest was so popular last year
that we decided to once again recognize the outstanding performance of
software teams and to promote best practices. The Office of the Under
Secretary of Defense is sponsoring this contest and will recognize
projects focused on quality, performance, and customer value.

CrossTalk, The Journal of Defense Software Engineering, will announce
the winners in the May 2003 issue and dedicate the July 2003 issue to
honoring the winners of this award. One winner from each winning project
team will receive a free registration to the Software Technology
Conference 2003, to personally accept the award, along with a free
registration to AYE (Amplifying Your Effectiveness) 2003. This is your
opportunity to gain government-wide recognition for your team's
outstanding efforts and performance. We are accepting nominations
through 13 December 2002 at www.stsc.hill.af.mil/crosstalk
<http://www.stsc.hill.af.mil/crosstalk> .

We encourage you take a look at CrossTalk's January 2002 issue, which
recognizes the Top 5 2001 winners. This issue goes into detail about
each project and the team behind it. There you will read what it takes
to become a Top 5 winner.

To be eligible for this award, projects must have been performed under a
government contract (internal government contracts also eligible) and
have been active during the period of June 2001 through December 2002.
To qualify as active, a project must have provided at least one
deliverable to the customer during this time; incremental deliverables
are eligible. Projects that were nominated last year, but were not
selected are also welcome to participate this year as long as the
eligibility criterion is met.

We are anticipating another successful year and look forward to hearing
from you. We encourage you to spread the word of this wonderful
opportunity to recognize those projects that help promote best practices
and demonstrate results.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding this
contest.

Sincerely,
The Top 5 Staff
