Don't worry too much. In such a case you'll probably not entirely safe, but
certainly win at the end. The winner is not that who have better initial state,
but that who appears able to correct his errors faster. That's why both USA
and USSR won in WW2, and why the Germans loose. As a former Grand Opponent -:)
I can assure you that American system still seems to have much better response
time that the potential opponents.
  Going back to the point of this mailing list, it may be interesting to
compare Ada95 vs. C++ from this viewpoint -- response time needed for fast,
operative changes.
