Actually, I no longer have an academic hat at UMBC - just an account
that's useful for managing Team Ada, among other things.

Mike Feldman is correct in his interpretation of my admittedly terse
earlier message. If Team Ada takes on the role already filled
by various Web sites, then the traffic goes up. The unequal and
opposite reaction is for those who dislike receiving classified
ads to unsubscribe from the list. These are usually our most
valued subscribers - the ones that make this a pretty powerful
list in the first place.

I echo Magnus' view - discussions about the jobs (or lack thereof) and
the impact on the Ada language and community is welcomed. Posting
of megabytes of job listings is not (IMHO).

All that said, keep in mind that the list is unmoderated, so anything
goes (except, thankfully, for the spam that is automatically detected
and filtered by the list server). If you want to start posting job ads, it's
your prerogative. Just bear in mind the potential consequences.
