< I have not seen any data proving that the CMU Capability Maturity Model
levels
< have anything to do with quality or cost.

Actually, two of my Masters students and I wrote a paper on some nice research
they did in this area back in 94. It was published in the September 95
CrossTalk and it is also at
http://www.stsc.hill.af.mil/CrossTalk/1995/sep/Correlat.html.

As it turned out, the only valid data they could find was about cost and
schedule -- because quality measures are so poorly recorded. But they did
show that the CMM correlates with cost and schedule performance.
