Hi Teamers,

Once more, I noticed Ada's complete absence at an event where it should
have been present.

At the "International Conference for High Performance Computing,
Networking Storage and Analysis (SC07)", being held November 10 - 16,
2007 in Reno, Nevada, USA, there were various presentations about
programming languages and using parallelism to obtain higher
performance.

As an example, consider the following extract from HPCwire's
"Special Coverage of SC07" for yesterday Nov 15:

-------

[ ] M1894504 ) Modern Fortran: A Parallel, Object-Oriented Language
by Craig E. Rasmussen Los Alamos National Laboratory

Fortran remains the most popular programming language for HPC
applications, and has evolved over time to better serve these types
of codes. A proposed new standard, Fortran 2008, adds additional
features, including explicitly parallel constructs. This article
discusses the key features from the perspective of the application
  programmer.

[ ] M1895479 ) Java and .NET for High Performance Computing

Ed Stewart, product manager for IMSL numerical libraries at Visual
Numerics Inc., discusses his presentation on "High-Performance Java
and .NET Applications for Financial and Other Compute-Intensive
Industries," which took place at SC07 on Wednesday. According to
Stewart, using these languages helps developers write better code,
and performance issues often are mitigated by distributing the work.

[ ] M1894516 ) MATLAB's Journey to Parallel Computing
               by Michael Feldman HPCwire Editor

MATLAB has become the preeminent interactive programming environment
for scientists and engineers around the world. Just prior to SC07, we
spoke with The MathWorks co-founder and chief scientist Cleve Moler
about the evolution of MATLAB and about how the product grew to
  include parallel programming support.

-------

I'd like to invite those of you who "have a good pen" to consider
writing and submitting papers or presentations on Ada's value in the
parallel programming language domain to future conferences such as SC.

Let's show the Ada wheel to all those people who are trying to reinvent
square and rectangular versions of it... ;-)
