Hi, Steve,

Reference your questions (and the fact that I had to go out of my way to
look up the
answers), I thought I'd share them with Team Ada. As you may have noted,
some people
on this list are not up to date with Microsoft's movements, and, at the
speed things
are changing and coming out, it's good for the Ada community to try to enter
a position
of being more proactive than reactive. If you wait until you see the
product in the
market, you can be years behind the curve.

There are at least two pertinent articles in this issue:
"Software's Ultimate Sandbox" by Robert Buderi, Pp44-51 (this is on what
Microsoft
     Research is up to)
"Displaying a Winning Glow" by Michael Kenward, Pp68-73 (which is about a
U.K.
startup in Cambridge, where the new $200M Microsoft research center is
located)

This is the 100th Anniversary issue of MIT Technology Review. It's filled
with
good articles. At $5 I suggest you buy a copy thru the website. The
Technology
Review website is: http://www.techreview.com/ The issue is Jan/Feb 1999,
so it's
already old news to some degree.

For a lot more current info on Microsoft Research and what they are up to,
visit
their website: http://research.microsoft.com/

The research website includes some very interesting downloads on computer
vision,
text to speech, and the like.

Thanks a bunch! I looked at the stuff from that issue
but couldn't find a reference to what you had
mentioned.

Bummer. Do you happen to have the title of the
article in question? Maybe I can get a reprint of
it...

Steve
