Also for me it is not such a risk since the viruses are not targetted to
the OSes I use for this email list. However that is not to say that it is
worth receiving such irrelevant emails.

Subject to correction, I do not ever remember any attachments on this list
except for viruses. So if people are never going to attach files then it
should be simple for the list server administrators to just set an option
to return all emails to their senders if they have attachments. Exceptions
may be made for HTML (since many people send a HTML version of their
emails ... and for its superior formating abilities) and PDF files should
people wish to send on PDF files open to the public.
