That's what happens when you release an OS in 1995 and spend the next three
years releasing "service packs" and bug fixes and then bundle them all in
one package call it something new (Win98) and charge people to "upgrade" to
the new OS.
Given this scenario even M$ can improve the reliability of it's
OS/applications.
M$ Office is the same situation as with the OS. I have become very adept at
recovering auto-saved files in M$ Word. This feature seems to work pretty well
(thank god!).
