Ed Falis a.o replied:
= I got the same impression.

It is not only our impression.

In numerous contacts this his been mentioned to me several times: most
people were ready to acknowledge the value of Ada for safety critical
applications, i.e.
safety critical => seriously consider Ada
but then use incorrect logic to claim
not safety critical => Ada needs not to be considered.

Although we should of course keep stressing the value of Ada in that
"niche", we should certainly diversify and make people aware Ada helps
to develop more reliable software in all application areas.

When I spoke to a journalist a few years ago, and mentioned him the
advantages of Ada, spoke about the areas were it is most used, and the
fact it helps to develop software that really has to work, he reacted:
"But this is valuable for almost all software!". The result was an
article about software development in a Belgian general engineering
publication that favourably mentioned Ada.

To conclude, we should try to avoid creating a one-to-one mapping
  safety critical <=> Ada
into people's minds, IMHO.
