Most of this thread revolves around the Microsoft product world.  Given this
it is most telling  to recall two of Bill Gate's statements on Microsoft
products and standards.

About 7 or 8 years ago, after being raked over the coals for not adhering to
the ANSI C standard, Bill Gates stated that "Microsoft does not follow
standards, We set them."

Recently, after being raked over the coals for failing to adhere to the Web
standards in Internet Explorer 5, Bill Gates stated that "Microsoft will
follow standards when it is in our interest."

Enough said.
